If you have not seen the film and want to learn more about 'transition', what it's all about, what transition towns across the UK have done and find about transition initiatives from across the world, its worth watching. It's being screen at 4pm on Saturda

Annual General Meeting 18 October, Rose Green Working Men's Club

After a long (and wet) summer holiday we are back.

Our next step is an Annual General Meeting which, I have to formally tell you, is to be held at 7:30PM on Thursday 18th October at the Rose Green Working Men's Club, 4 Rose Green, Sheffield Road, Glossop, SK13 8QH.

Hopefully after the essential business we'll have a chance for a chat and time to discuss the different groups that will make up Glo
ssopdale in Transition. At present this looks like being Inner Transitions, Transition in Your Street based in Old Glossop (which may or may not end up becoming Old GiTs), the Time Bank and the Transport Group.

However as Transition is all about mobilising local people for projects, what actually happens depends of course on you.

We are 'official'!

Yes, folks, we are now officially In Transition and Glossopdale is on the Transition Town website!

Thanks very much to everyone who made this possible, especially everyone who attended the World Cafe at The Oakwood in July.

Film: The Power of Community

Glossopdale in Transition will be showing the film The Power Of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil, on Monday 23rd July 2012at The Oakwood at 8PM, after the People's Kitchen.

Anyone who wants to eat excellent vegan food (with a Middle Eastern theme I believe) for the most excellent price of £2.50 needs to book ASAP with the People's Kitchen by emailing peopleskitchenglossop@gmail.com or via their Facebook page.

The bar will not be open so bring your own drinks.

You don't have to eat to watch the film.

The Power of Community is a film we first showed last year. People said they wanted to see it again and also that now we are up and running as a potential Transition Town it will be more relevant as it is packed full of practical schemes to reduce our use of oil.

Glossopdale in Transition is Unleashed!

The old steering group
Thank you to everyone who came to the World Cafe last night.

We had a good discussion and at the end various people signed up to be on the Steering Group or to carry out more work on Transport, Local Economy, Food and Ecology, Inner Transitions and Transition in Your Street.

Those of you who signed up should be getting an email in the next week. If you don't, or if you want to join a group, email: transitionglossopdale@sky.com.

People also requested information on various topics such as how to switch to an eco-friendly electricity provider or how to get to Sheffield by bus (via New Mills is the answer...). I'll be putting up links and informtion here in due course.

Glossopdale in Transition is now off the ground and what happens next is up to you.
